In Memory: Bev (Adopted 5/2013)

Earlier this month, we received this tribute to Bev.  Bev was already an older girl who had recently had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor when she was adopted in 2013.  It takes a very special person to adopt a senior dog; we are so grateful to Bev's family to have given her such a wonderful home in which to spend her golden years.

Hi, It is with great sadness that I tell you that my beloved Bev collapsed and died Monday morning on our dog walk. Her health had been declining due to degenerative myelopathy, Horner' syndrome, and worsening Cushing' disease. She had a large mass on her spleen that ruptured suddenly. We didn't even know she also had hemangiosarcoma. Yet she was a happy girl! She never, never complained about anything! These photos were all taken the last couple of weeks; you can see how happy she was!  And  since they finally put our new sidewalks on our block, I etched out a small memorial to Bev.

In Memory: Tessa (Formerly Tess, adopted 7/2008)

In October 2015 we received this lovely memorial from Tessa's family.  Not only did they give Tessa a wonderful, loving, truly forever home, but they also opened their heart and home to ADR's Gunner when they adopted him this fall. Thank you to Tessa's family for giving her such a wonderful life.

We lost our sweet Tessa on 7/17/15. We miss her terribly but could not let her suffer. She was such a patient and loyal friend to me and Moppins. We did a lot in the 7 years we had with her: we moved to Florida and back to Minnesota, saw the ocean, bought a house, welcomed 2 noisy boys into that house, and had so many great walks and trips to the dog park. While in the depths of our grief, I have wondered how we'll ever be able to get another dog, knowing the inevitable pain that losing them will bring.  Then a wise man at the dog park told me, "It's all worth it because dogs fill a bigger hole than they leave."

Thank you to everyone at All Dog Rescue for giving my girl a 2nd and 3rd chance at her forever home.  I love peeking around the ADR website to find her picture.  I think I have found her on 6 different pages :)

Happy Ending Update for Calvin (Adopted 10/2007)

Showing off his new grin after getting some teeth pulled.

Update Received October 2015: Eight years ago today my husband I adopted our very first "baby" Calvin, from your organization and we wanted to give an update on him. We now live in North Dakota and he has been joined by three sisters (1 dog and 2 humans). He has surprised us all with his willingness to adjust to the craziness of kids and is especially fond of the toddler who frequently gives him treats and shares her Cheerios. The first thing we did when we moved into our house was put up a fence so Calvin could be free. My husband frequently says it was the best money he ever spent. From April to November, it is nearly impossible to get him inside. He loves to run around chasing birds and squirrels, while patrolling the fence. Two years ago he made a best friend in the neighborhood, Chloe the German Shepherd. Her owner brings her by at least once a day and they chase each other up and down the fence. He went from being a very unsure, unkept and scared dog to an energetic, loving, and handsome dog. We love him to pieces and are so happy your organization trusted us to be his forever home. Thank you so much for all that you do to help these dogs find their people.

Happy Ending Update for Paisley (Adopted 9/2015)

Update received October 2015: I met Paisley on 9/19/15 at the BP Pet Smart event.  Well it has been 2 weeks since her foster mom brought Paisley to our home.  So I thought I would share an update on her success here with me.  She seems to be adapting well!  All the wildlife just outside our front door / living room window just drives her nuts & that activity brings out her hunter instinct.  I won't kid you though, she has been a stinker a time or two!  As you can see from the linked pictures she is enjoying her new life here!

Happy Ending Update for Houston (Adopted 8/2015)

Update received September 2015: Houston is doing great!  He knows sit, give (when playing fetch), and whines when he needs to go out..only 1 accident since I adopted him....as you can see he is a lover and this was after a long play session with about 4 other dogs, another puppy, and 3 kids!  He was great with them all!

Happy Ending Update for Atlas (Formerly Dubnyk, Adopted 6/2015)

Update received September 2015: Atlas is doing great, he is a very happy puppy and loves everybody he meets animals and people alike. He is growing like a weed and has already reached 53 pounds, definitely going to be a big guy. I have attached plenty of pictures so you can see for yourself how handsome he is turning out to be :)
