Earlier this month, we received this tribute to Bev. Bev was already an older girl who had recently had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor when she was adopted in 2013. It takes a very special person to adopt a senior dog; we are so grateful to Bev's family to have given her such a wonderful home in which to spend her golden years.
Hi, It is with great sadness that I tell you that my beloved Bev
collapsed and died Monday morning on our dog walk. Her health had been
declining due to degenerative myelopathy, Horner' syndrome, and
worsening Cushing' disease. She had a large mass on her spleen that
ruptured suddenly. We didn't even know she also had hemangiosarcoma. Yet
she was a happy girl! She never, never complained about anything! These
photos were all taken the last couple of weeks; you can see how happy
she was! And since they finally put our new sidewalks on our block, I
etched out a small memorial to Bev.
